Adopt a Domestic Long Hair

Domestic Long Hair Cat

Boris the Cat needs a home

Are you looking for a spitfire companion full of sass? Do you have a soft spot for heartthrobs with checkered pasts? Would you like to take a walk on the wild side? Then meet Boris, Austin's very own beautiful bad boy with a heart of gold! Like most bad boys, Boris has had a few run-ins with the law; when you look deeper, though, you can easily get past the naughty exterior to see his perspective. Before he came to APA!, Boris had the misfortune of having his front paws declawed, and he's understandably upset about this turn of events. Without his claws, Boris can't defend himself the same way that other cats can. The world is a lot scarier when you feel helpless, and poor Boris suffers from some anxiety problems that cause him to lash out using the only defense he has left- his teeth. Boris does have a bite history, and will need a compassionate adopter who is willing to look past his bad habits. In return, however, Boris will reveal his heart of gold and reward his family with all of the love, snuggles, and head butts anyone could ask for. At heart, this bad boy is really a snuggle bug, who loves to be pet, scratched, and brushed, and who will even put his paws on your shoulders to give you a hug! Boris is a staff favorite at APA!, and many of the cat program counselors have fallen in love with him as he climbed on their shoulders or took a snooze on their laps. Funny and quirky, this boy loves to take the spotlight with his playful antics. He can often be found chasing balls around his enclosure, wrestling with his roommates, or stealing all the attention of anyone who comes to visit. Boris, with his dreamy fluffy white fur and striking splashes of orange tabby stripes, knows that he deserves the spotlight, and will demand it! Boris does well with other cats in the shelter, but needs to be in an animal-free home - he wants to be the center of your attention. Boris is absolutely not interested in kids of any species! This bachelor is childfree for life and proud of it, and will not be adopted to a home with children. Because of his struggles with fear-based aggression, he takes an easy once-daily anxiety medication that has helped him enormously. On the medication, Boris is much more comfortable with the world around him and much more able to be the sweetheart we know he is inside. What Boris really needs, however, is someone in his corner who will be patient and compassionate, who will protect him and make him feel comfortable and loved, and who will act as his advocate to the world and understand his needs. If this sounds like you, come meet Boris today! All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
